A disquieting and ambiguous debut from Sundance winner Sean Durkin. Martha has escaped (it’s unclear from what) and finds refuge with her sister and her husband in an uneasy reunion. Reluctant to discuss where she’s been (the word “cult” is not mentioned) Martha’s attempt to reintegrate with family and society combines real tension and menace.
