THE SQUARE          [12]       108 mins
JEHANE NOUJAIM  (Egypt/USA 2013)

Lewes Film ClubTaking place in the very heart (the eponymous Tahrir Square) of the Egyptian Arab Spring, The Square shows the complexities and difficulties of the revolution starting with the overthrow of dictator Mubarak in January 2011 and following through to the ongoing problems in 2013 as Egypt is torn between three parties: the Military, the Muslim Brotherhood and the Revolutionaries. Harrowing, uplifting and awe-inspiring in almost equal measure, The Square explores the extraordinary events and human stories of perhaps the biggest protest in modern times.
